On December 2015, the students and professionals were in shock after knowing that the presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte would remove Algebra, Trigonometry and Calculus from the school curriculum and replace them with business math. The said idea rooted way back when Duterte was still a student. According to him, the said subjects aren’t essential and served no purpose in job hunting.
The presidential front candidate and incoming president added that students must not be pressured by “sine” and “cosine”. He also admitted that he suffered drawing line graphs when he was still studying. Physics and Geometry, on the other hand, would remain in the curriculum according to Duterte.
“You know there are crazy things. It does not serve the purpose at all. Pinapahirapan lang ang mga bata (you just make it hard for the kids), Business Math and Statistics, pwede pa,” Duterte said.
